Why We Put Salicylic Acid and Licorice Root in the Same Face Wash
June 2026 · 4 min read
Most acne face washes are just harsh surfactants in a fancy bottle. They strip your skin, your face feels tight, and then your oil glands panic and produce even more sebum. It's a cycle.
We wanted something different. Salicylic acid clears out pores — that's well established. But pairing it with licorice root extract was the real move. Licorice calms the inflammation that makes breakouts look angry and red, and it helps with the dark marks that acne leaves behind.
The niacinamide in there does its own thing too — it helps regulate oil production over time, so you're not just treating the symptom. After about three weeks of consistent use, people start noticing their skin is actually less oily, not just cleaner-looking.
We tested it on combination, oily, and acne-prone skin types. The gel texture foams up without stripping, and it rinses clean. No residue, no film, no tight feeling. That's how you know it's working with your skin instead of against it.
